    Maharashtra College of Arts, Science & Commerce affiliated to University of Mumbai, was established in 1968 with a vision to bring higher education to the door steps of the economically underprivileged students, especially belonging to the Muslim minority, emphasizing on their all-round development. It is managed by Khairul Islam Higher Education Society, which was founded under the guidance of our President, Dr. Rafiq Zakaria, a veteran parliamentarian, writer, educationist and Islamic scholar.

    Maharashtra College’s Centre for Acceleration in Research and Entrepreneurship (CARE) which was launched by at Honorable Vice Chancellor of the University of Mumbai Prof. Suhas Pednekar on 16th March 2019 aims to promote innovation and entrepreneurship skills amongst its students, faculty, employees, etc. CARE constantly strives to motivate the budding entrepreneurs from various disciplines of arts, science and commerce to convert their creative ideas into commercial ventures for personal, institutional, social and national benefit.

    Maharashtra College’s CARE is organising an entrepreneurship competition titled ‘Tapping Creative Start-ups – A Step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat’to promote the Prime Minister’s mantra of Atmanirbharta.


    About the Competition

    Amidst this pandemic situation, many industries in the field of medicine, digital marketing, and social media have been indirectly or directly contributing towards the economy. New businesses have sprung up and existing economic and social sectors are learning to accustom to sudden changes. This competition aims to tap the creative talent to create employment opportunities and empower the nation. Following are the recommended themes to help spark your ideas.

  • HealthCare and Biomedical Devices-Wellness & Pharma.
  • Environment; Green Tech & Sustainability.
  • Social Development and Art & Culture.
  • Supply Chain & Logistics.
  • Media, Communication & Entertainment.
  • Textile & Apparels.
  • Food & Beverage.
  • Hospitality.
  • Tech-Automation.
  • IoT.
  • Agriculture and rural development.
  • Robotics and drones.
  • Innovations in Computing and Optimization for Scientific & Technological Development.
  • Sustainable Infrastructure Development.
  • Smart Information and Communication.
  • Any other original and innovative idea.

    • COMPETITION TIMELINE

  • Registration: 29th June 2020 to 12th July 2020

  • Participants will receive all update only in official WhatsApp group.
  • The ideas will be evaluated based on the original write-ups and video presentation
  • The selected participants will be intimated on/before 14th July 2020
  • First round of selection through virtual presentation will be on 15th July 2020 at 10:00 am
  • Those who qualify the first round of selection will be intimated on/before 17th July 2020
  • Final round of Virtual presentation will be conducted on Zoom and Live streaming will be on YouTube on 18th July at 11:00am.
    (Participants should report at 10.00 am)

    • NOTE : Winners must sign an M.O.U with Maharashtra College’s CARE.


    ELIGIBILITY

  • AGE: No bar
  • The idea can be presented individually or in a team of not more than four members.
  • Must be a citizen of India

    • General Guidelines

    FORMATION OF TEAMS
  • Maximum 4 members permitted in a team (plan can be submitted individually as well)
  • One participant cannot be a part of more than one team
  • No change of team structure is permitted after the team is registered.
  • One of the team member should be Registered as Team Leader.

    • GUIDELINES FOR WRITE-UPS

  • The write-up must be in English
  • The idea elaborated in the write-up must be original and not subjected to any copyright restrictions.
  • Submission of word Document of your Idea/Business plan should be in registration form.
  • The Idea/ business plan should not exceed 20 pages . (excluding executive summary, cover page and index).
  • The participants must follow the font of 12 in Times New Roman for the main body and of 14 for the headings with a line spacing of 1.5”.
  • The participant can use pictures, info graphics in their Idea/business plan. However, we would appreciate that you put relevant sources in Appendix
  • The word document must be organized in the following manner:
  • Cover Page
  • Index
  • Opportunity
  • Market analysis summary
  • Execution
  • Financial plan

    • NOTE: All the write-ups will undergo a blind peer reviewing process.


    GUIDELINES FOR VIDEO-MAKING

  • The video should include a presentation of an innovative and original idea.
  • The video must not exceed 4 minutes.
  • Videos must be uploaded by the participants to their Google Drive and only shareable link of the video is to be shared.
  • The participants must not disclose their identity in any way (visibly or audibly), else they will be disqualified.
  • The video must contain only original work and not be subject to any copyright restrictions.

    • GUIDELINES FOR VIRTUAL PRESENTATION

  • All presentations will be conducted online.
  • Presentations can be delivered in English and Hindi.
  • Only one person will be allowed to present before the panel.
  • The presentation should not be longer than 10 minutes.
